My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My immediate thoughts following this book were: What devilry is this where I can read a book full of characters I can barely stand and still remain riveted on their stories. I almost wanted to continue straight into the next book. Sorcery I tell you! George RR Martin is a sorcerer!!! Never have I ever.. and all that jazz! I have been buddy reading this series, because I’m not sure I could do it alone. I mean really there are just times in this series where you just need a breather and some friend to “talk me down.” Its amazing to me how reading actually effects me emotionally outside of a book lol. I’m not sure that I have ever cheered so hard when people end up dead in a story… sort of disturbing I think lol. This writing style is so unlike anything I have ever read before… where each chapter can end in a cliffhanger and you have to wait 10 chapters or so to get answers.

Book 3 picks up right where book 2 leaves off continuing the story for all our characters. I honestly don’t even know where to start. I pretty much feel like I have been put through the ringer. I will say I feel like some of my prior opinions from the last 2 books were rocked pretty hard in this book. I found myself growing fonder of characters that I didn’t in a million years think I would ever like. I’m not quite proud to say it but I feel I became pretty bloodthirsty there toward the end. Let me try to give a quick summary here.. Jon Snow has made some important discoveries along with his black clothed brothers, as well as taken on some new responsibilities. Arry and Sansa… bless their hearts, still can’t seem to catch a dang break. Multiple weddings occur and turn out to be shockingly gruesome occasions. Cersei is still… well you know she is still her pleasant self… yuck! Danny is really making headway and though I have found her attitude a tad spoiled over the last book or 2 I really feel like she is trying to become better, but at the same time I just don’t understand why the heck everyone wants this dang throne. This kingdom is a hot mess! Tyrion, lord bless this dude! He really gets the crappy end of the stick in this book. I can’t wait for him to get his day! Jaime super surprised me in this book as he has some come to Jesus moments, I mean hes still on my bad list.. but I can see the cobwebs coming of the gears in his brain. Another surprising change of heart I have had is over this lord of light… I have been under the impression in the last several books that this guy is a bad deal… but now I’m just not so sure. Stannis also made some surprising decisions, I just don’t know… I have a bad feeling about him not quite sure where that is headed.

I am super excited to move on in the story and even more excited to be doing it with friends! So, BRING IT GEORGE!

    1. These books invoke the craziest feeling of not wanting to read anymore and at the same time not being able to stop reading! It’s infuriating and awe inspiring. I never got far into the tv series because seeing the children act out these scenes kinda broke me. Reading about it for some reason didnt bother me near as much as seeing actual children in there… I have been buddy reading the entire series with a friend and that helps keep me motivated to continue! I definitely recommend Buddy reading it because then you have someone to go to and be like “whaaaaaaatttt!”
